- Juan Oliver is Director of the Hispanic/Latino Program in Theology and Pastoral Ministry and Adjunct Professor of Liturgics at General Seminary
Ordained a priest in June of 1989, he has served as teaching assistant in liturgics, curate, vicar, interim rector, diocesan deployment officer, director of a regional school of theology and diocesan coordinator for Hispanic ministries. He has been instrumental in the development of the Catechumenate and its rites. A popular workshop and retreat leader, he is the author of many articles on worship and cultures.
Juan is a past president of APLM, founding member of Living Rite and a member of the Societas Liturgica and the International Liturgical Anglican Consultation. His dissertation, The Look of Common Prayer: the Anglican Liturgical Place in Anglo-American Culture, was written under the direction of Dr. Louis Weil. He is currently writing White Fields: The Promise and challenge of Latino Ministry, to be published next year.
His current interests include Guatemalan weaving, cooking; Southwestern pottery and santos; medieval music and the liturgy of ancient Spain.
