Celeste! I wrote a full reply and then erased it by mistake... Language: You wisely point to the fact that unless one is starting a congregation (or a diocese...) from scratch, there is going to be a clash of some sort between two types of intra...

About Me:
I retired!

After developing the Latino Program at the General Seminary of the Episcopal Church. I directed it for the last nine years, also teaching Liturgy as an adjunct professor. Earlier, I had served as Director of the Mercer School of Theology in Long Island and earlier still as acting Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of New Jersey.

My Ph.D. in Liturgical Studies is from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. My dissertation explored how buildings contribute to the religious experience and developed criteria for the design of church buildings in the United States. I am honored to have been a past President of the Associated Parishes for Liturgy and Mission and a current Council member. I am also a founding member of Living Rite, -- a workshop on liturgical imagination and creativity, a member of the Societas Liturgica and of the International Liturgical Anglican Consultation. Over the last twenty years I have been involved in developing processes for welcoming and forming new members in the Episcopal Church, something that I continue to work on.

My currently scholarly work includes the upcoming Ripe Fields: The Promise and Challenge of Latino Ministry, (Church Publishing Inc. --out this summer), an article on the history of Spanish versions of the BCP, (in the Oxford Guide to the BCP). I am working on ongoing research on the architecture and performance of the Mozarabic ["Old Spanish"] rite in V-VIIc. Spain, and a collection of essays on liturgy and ecclesiology.

I love gardening, cooking; opera, medieval music, Native American Pueblo pottery, and theological banter (not necessarily in that order!)

Thanks very much, Juan. Are you still in NY? If so, maybe I can buy you coffee or a drink one of these days and pick your brain. I also need to return those brochures you lent me.

My dissertation proposal was officially approved several weeks ago (although I've been working on the dissertation for longer than that).

I added a discussion to the APLM ning on inculturation and wondered if you might offer a perspective to get us thinking as we work toward our next Council meeting in San Antonio.

peace,
Frank
